SMARTPhones UI Wars - iPhone,Touch,Prada

Thursday, June 14, 2007

A UI is everything these days no matter what the product is. An appealing UI definitely creates a stunning impression on the customers. But what happens when the "Ultimate UI" war is too intense? Competitors releasing half-blown products like HTC Touch which sports a cool UI alright but you are taken back to the same old UI once you click on any application!! iPhone is touted as a "Masculine Phone" while Prada (LG KE850) a "Feminine Phone" and HTC Touch a "Total Disaster"!! Come, lets have a look at what these next-gen phones have to offer.

UI technologies for the three phones::
iPhone - multitouch??!
Touch - touchFlo
Prada - Flash UI

Watch the video in my last post for iPhone and Touch :)

Comparing HTC Touch and iPhone has never been this fun!!

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

HTC releasing a multi touch device way before iPhone was about to step out to AT&T caught everyone's attention but HTC Touch is not ready for the big fight yet! A single layer of touchflo UI on top of WM6 doesnt' make it a competitor to iPhone cos' a stylus is a must for it to function any where near to the current Pocket PC devices. iPhone wins by a greater margin, touch input and sensors would be a real challenge cos' they require good amount of practice since they are Unique features ;)

I tried creating a video showing some if not all the differences between the two devices. I used iMovie HD and spent 2 days aquiring the videos, converting, slicing, editing .. what not!! iMovie crashed heavily when I was editing and there might be few errors that creeped in the process. Anyways, try watching the video and gimme few suggestions about it - the music, the comments in the video and stuff :) I am always open to constructive criticism!!

Safari 3 Beta fails to install - Fix / Hack! Error - "You cannot install Safari 3 Beta on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements....

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Saw WWDC 2007 keynote and tried installing Safari 3 Beta on my Macbook (Mac OS X 10.4.9) only to see that it behaves rather weird,it doesn't show up, after deleting and trying to reinstall Safari 3 Beta, all I get is "You cannot install Safari 3 Beta on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

I dint' give up,searched for solutions online and found none :( Then tried installing the Safari3BetaUninstall.pkg without even installing the Safari3Beta.pkg!! It asked for a restart and voila, I see Safari loading to its full glory!! Enjoy Safari and all the new features!!

Get paid $15 for installing an App on your Windows/Symbian mobile

Thursday, May 31, 2007

Who won't like cash ($15 for installation,$5 thereafter paid once every 6 months) for doing something as simple as installing a very small application which tracks your mobile usage - applications, call timers but not personal data!!Well,it might seem weird to install an application which we never really use but for a techie like me - who loves experimenting,it should not bother much! The better part is that you can uninstall it anytime you wish!

The best part : I received a cheque for $15 within 45-60 days of installing it. I installed the application, tried different WM6 ROMs on my HTC Wizard, don't remember when the application was removed but was surprised/thrilled to see the cheque in my mailbox!! This program is open only to people residing in the U.S who use selected Windows/Symbian devices.

Jump on this offer,NOW!!
